Window Shade Trends in Color
Our customers are often hesitant when it comes to color. They might be afraid to choose the “wrong” one, or they just don’t know how to go about picking one. That’s why, at Ross Howard Designs here in Dallas, we like to let people know that, each year, experts in the field of color identify trends and predict a Color of the Year. While you might not want the trending color this year, you might actually enjoy something that was popular before. At the least, you can see what’s out there and perhaps even get introduced to something new.
About Pantone Color
In 1963, Pantone established the first color matching system, referred to as the Pantone Matching system or simply PMS system. It’s the standard by which most companies match color for exacting results. The PMS system uses a standardized Pantone numbering system to identify each color (for example: Pantone Red 199), making it easy for anyone to refer to a specific color. The Pantone Color Institute takes things a step further by predicting what will “trend” in the world of color each year. For example:
- 2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity. In 2016, the Color Institute offered up not just one but TWO trending forecasted colors. Rose Quartz and Serenity, known for their calm and peaceful aura, were forecasted to replicate how we would want to feel in the following months.
- 2017: Greenery. Reminiscent of the first day of spring, this yellow-green, snow pea color “is the color of hopefulness and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew.”
- 2018: Ultra Violet. Offering originality, Ultra Violet is provocative and visionary. Long a symbol of unconventionality, Ultra Violet has always been considered a mystical or spiritual color.
2019 Pantone Color of the Year for Interior Design
Get ready, because the Color Institute’s prediction will be out soon. It might be something you’re ready to fall in love with, and if it is, you’ll be bound to see it reflected in numerous elements all around. Stay tuned to our blog to learn more about the Institute’s predicted color in next couple of months.
