Pairing Drapery with Blinds and Shades
When choosing window treatments for your home, the choice doesn’t have to be between drapery or hard treatments such as blinds and shades. Often, using a combination of custom drapes and a blind or shade will add depth and softness to any room.
Go High and Wide
Using a combination of a hard window treatments and drapery can change the perception of the size of your windows. For example, install outside mounted roman shades or bamboo blinds a few inches below the ceiling to make your window look taller. Then, use a fashionable curtain rod at the same level as the blind or shade, but extend it a foot or two beyond the window, depending on the size of your room. The blinds and drapes work together to transform a standard size window into a large window, and will make your ceiling appear taller as well. The final effect creates a brighter, more open room.
Custom Curtains Make the Difference
It’s hard to find off-the-shelf drapery that is longer than 108 inches. To create a unique look in a room with tall ceilings, you’ll need specialty drapery made just for your room. Paired with nearly any Hunter Douglas blind or shade for light and privacy control, extra long custom draperies bring a touch of softness to your room while giving your window treatments the functionality you need.
Splashes of Color
Blinds and shades come in a wide variety of textures, colors, and styles. For some rooms, though, it takes a custom soft treatment to truly bring bright splashes of color into a room. Even better, drapery and top treatments can be matched to other accessories in your room, such as upholstered items and pillows. In bedrooms, drapes and top treatments can be made with fabric that accentuates your bedding.
