Maple Public School was in need a window shade that would stop the students from going sun blind when they were playing in the gym. The challenge was they needed an extremely large shade and they wanted it to be motorized. The principal didn’t know where to go, so she Googled “motorized screen shades” and Ross Howard in Dallas, TX came up first.
After our design consultant talked over the project specifications, it was determined that not only was the window shade going to be big, they wanted the fabric to be one piece, and with no seams. It was agreed that a screen shade would be the best fit because it would filter out the sunlight, but you could still see through it. The challenge was to find a manufacturer who could make such a shade.
Corradi Exterior Screen Shades Answered the Call
To meet the demands of the what the client wanted, we looked to Corradi Outdoor Living Space. Their exterior screen shades provide superior quality and design and offer excellent sun protection. But more importantly they could fabricate the screen shade to fit the space. They selected a 10% screen in charcoal.
Next, we needed to address the motorization piece. For such a large shade we elected to go with a Somfy motor with a wall mounted switch to operate the screen shade. The wall mounted switch was selected over a remote control for practicality reasons.
Screen Shade Make Students Happy
With the addition of the screen shade, the students can now use the entire gym throughout the day. The gym also stays cooler because the exterior screen shade not only reduced the glare and blocked the sun, it absorbed the heat. View the Corradi screen shade in action!
