A History of Corporate and Social Responsibility
Among names such as Arbor Day Foundation, Bal Swan Children’s Center, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Make A Wish Foundation, Minority Athletic Network (MAN), and Care Plus, Hunter Douglas also counts in its giving places such as Memorial Sloan Kettering, for which Hunter Douglas recently underwrote a graduate fellowship in breast cancer research, in the hopes that talented students will have breakthroughs in the search for a cure. They’ve also long been a supporter of Habitat for Humanity, which helps disadvantaged people get housing. So far, Hunter Douglas has donated almost 300,000 window fashions as well as working hours spent building new homes. Finally, when disaster strikes, Hunter Douglas is ready to help. To date, they’ve donated to numerous efforts, including those to help those impacted by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and the floods in Colorado.
Help for the Children
Hunter Douglas has supported Ronald McDonald House Charities® for many years now, including bringing hope and happiness to several children who have been campers at the Camp Ronald McDonald. Knowing that the camp needed window fashions for its brand-new dining hall, Hunter Douglas decided to do something a little more than just donate product. Instead, they invited campers to draw pictures that conveyed “happiness,” and, with some third-party help, they selected winners whose drawings were printed onto the shades. Now the dining hall is reflective not only of the actual campers but also of the things that mean happiness. To learn more about this project, watch this video:
