Explore Trending Colors
If you’re like a lot of Ross Howard Designs customers, you might be a little intimidated by color, especially when it comes to choosing the “right” color for your home. That’s why it’s often good to explore a little—that way, you can get a feel for what’s possible. One avenue to follow is to check out and learn about trending colors, especially when you get your information from the color experts at the Pantone Color Institute. Read on to learn more about how they spot trends in colors each year!
Pantone Color Institute
Each year, the Pantone Color Institute predicts what will be the trending color for the year. Pantone’s color of the year often sets the stage for trends in fashion, window treatments, wall coverings, and interior design. Selecting the Color of the Year takes approximately nine months. The staff at Pantone explores a variety of industries to collect what they refer to as “proof points.” They review the latest from the auto industry, designer runways, and interior decorating showcases. Once they identify the trends, they narrow down the choices.
Classic Blue 19-4052 Is the Pantone Color of the Year
The first Color of the Year, Cerulean, was chosen in 1999, a world gripped with uncertainty as we neared Y2K. Just as it was right before Y2K, blue seems to be a fitting color when the instability is gripping the world today. The color offers the confidence, reassurance, and connection that people are searching for. “It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute.
Incorporating Classic Blue
Classic Blue can transform a space in a regal way. Add a lot of color for a dramatic look or a little color to simply brighten up your room. You can add it on the wall in paint or wallpaper. You can add accent color with area rugs, throw pillows, artwork, and other décor. Or you can add dimension with things like furniture, bedding, or window treatments. If you’re in the market for window treatments and are drawn to Classic Blue, be sure to explore Hunter Douglas lines such as Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Designer Banded Shades, Design Studio Draperies and Drapery Panels, Solera® Soft Shades, roller shades, Modern Precious® Metals aluminum blinds, and more. Let us help you find the right window treatment to complement your décor.
