Evolving Roller Shades
Year after year, roller shades continue to be the best-selling window treatments on the market. Because they keep evolving, they will never go out of style and can match any home’s décor. At Ross Howard Designs serving the greater Dallas area, we’ll be happy to show you the benefits.
Smaller Light Gap for Roller Shades
The one drawback to roller shades through the years has been the light gap that comes from the sides of the shade when installed inside the window frame. One side of the roller shade has a clutch to raise and lower the shade. As a result, the fabric on the control side leaves a light gap for the clutch to operate. This year, Hunter Douglas has streamlined this classic shade by updating the clutch. This new, ultra-slim system now offers the smallest light gap in decades because the fabric of the shade to be cut larger for better coverage. The new design includes nine custom hardware colors to coordinate with the shade fabric. You can also upgrade to a designer metal bracket in pearl chrome or burnished chestnut for a more contemporary look.
Options for Roller Shade Mounting
You can mount the shade as a “regular roll,” which means that the fabric will roll off the back of the tube closest to the glass. This creates more privacy and the least amount of light leakage. Your second option is called “reverse roll,” which means that the shade fabric will unroll off the front of the tube, further away from the glass. This creates less privacy and more light leakage but might be the only way you can mount the shade, depending on your window type.
