Pantone 2016 Color of the Year – Pantone Minion Yellow
Forecasted Pantone Colors
If you’re a fan of the Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me franchise, you probably remember the lighthearted yellow Minions characters. Well, did you know that they’ve inspired a forecasted color? If you’re interested in learning more about it and how to use it in your home, read on and contact a trained consultant from Ross Howard Designs here in Dallas.
PANTONE® Forecasted Color Inspired by Entertainment
The inventor of the color matching system PMS that helps designers and graphic artists ensure consistent color selection every time, Pantone has used entertainment’s Minions characters as inspiration for a new color, “Minion” Yellow. The custom Pantone Minion Yellow color will be included in the next color addition in the Fashion, Home+ Interiors color palette.
How Should You Use the Pantone Minion Yellow in Your Interior Design?
Minion Yellow is a vibrant tone, and if you match it with purple, you will have a perfect complementary color combination. Add the achromatic brown, and you have another look. When combining colors, be sure to keep a balance of 60%-30%-10% to make sure you don’t create competition of color. A soft look would be a brown room, with yellow as the 30% and purple as the 10% accent color. A more dramatic look would be yellow, indigo, magenta, and black, creating a split complementary combination.
If You Don’t Like the Pantone Forecasted Color
When selecting colors for your room, select the colors you love. When you use colors you don’t like, it tends to make you focus on areas you would otherwise avoid. Don’t use the colors in rooms where you want to feel your best. Trendy colors come and go, and unless you have tons of money, you should go with what you love and not what you feel you need just because it’s stylish.
