The Science Behind How They Work

Solar optical properties in a fabric distinguish it from other fabrics. Those properties include (Ts) Solar Transmittance, which is the amount of total solar energy that passes through the fabric. The larger the number, the more solar energy passes through. (Rs) Solar Reflectance, which is the amount of solar energy/heat that is reflected away. The higher the number, the more solar heat is reflected. (As) Solar Absorption, which is the absorption of light and heat. A low number means the shade absorbs very little solar energy, which allows heat into your space. (Tv) Visible Light Transmittance, which is the amount of visible light that comes through. The higher the number, the less light there is coming in.
