I was honored to attend my first NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) Annual Planning Conference this past weekend, October 19th & 20th. NAWIC is an international association founded in 1953 that promotes and supports the advancement and employment of women in the construction industry. NAWIC’s core purpose is to unite and enhance the success of women in various phases of the industry through education, professional development and fellowship. The Dallas chapter is extremely active in supporting several local charities. The annual Block Kids at Scottish Rite Hospital is a favorite among the chapter members. This is an opportunity for the dyslexic children to build a structure made entirely of Legos, string and a rock. The children and the adults look forward to this every year!

As the Design Center Manager for Ross Howard Designs, a local Hunter Douglas Gallery showroom, and an Associate Partner of NAWIC / Dallas Chapter, I really enjoy all the various networking opportunities available to me at each monthly meeting and the various events hosted by NAWIC sponsors. I love the chance to discuss Hunter Douglas window coverings and all that Ross Howard Designs has to offer to help increase their knowledge and awareness of how important window coverings are to increase their business.

During the conference I served on the Hospitality Committee which enabled me to enjoy the camaraderie and quality time with other NAWIC women in a very warm and relaxing environment.
