Functional Options for Shades
At Ross Howard Designs here in Dallas, we know that buying window fashions can be very overwhelming, especially to first-time buyers. That’s why we strive to keep our customers informed about all of the details to consider, including options many people wouldn’t otherwise think about. For example, some window coverings can be operated in a variety of ways—each of which offers benefits to a room or home. To see this sort of option in action, speak with one of our consultants today.
How Shades Open
With Hunter Douglas Honeycomb shades, Roman Shades, Silhouette® Privacy Sheers, and more, you have several ways to think about how they function in a room in terms of how they open. Selecting the right lifting options depends on the location of your windows. You can choose from:
- Traditional bottom-up lifting, which allows the light come in from bottom with privacy on top. This is a must-choose method if you have pets, so you can raise the treatment out of a paw’s way.
-  Top-down operation, which allows light to come in on top with privacy on the bottom. Top-down is a great solution for a bedroom window that is on the street side—for example, if you don’t want people directly looking in, but you want natural light coming in.
- Top-down/bottom-up operating, which allows you to lower the top and raise the bottom at the same time or independently. This option is the ultimate in versatility to give you the best of all worlds—it’s perfect for any room in your home.
Lift Systems for Shades and Blinds
Hunter Douglas offers a variety of lift systems, from standard manual operations to motorized systems. They all offer pet and child safety, and some offer more. UltraGlide® is a retractable cord system that lets you raise and lower your shades with no ugly, dangling external cords. LiteRise® is a cordless system that lets you gently raise and lower your shades with slight pressure from your hand. PowerView® motorization is a wireless operating system that can be used with a PowerView® Pebble® remote or with your mobile device or tablet, even if you’re not at home.
